Workshop on Sorting & Recycling with Junior Session of SMPS

At Saaf Mohalla Saaf Pakistan, we believe that change begins with education and awareness. That’s why we recently organized a special introductory session with the young students of Safa Mera Primary School to educate about sorting and collecting recyclables and also taught the importance of reuse and reduction.

We took a hands-on approach to learning by introducing three bins for separating and sorting dry waste. Each bin was clearly marked for the collection of paper/cardboard, plastic, and tetrapack waste. It was incredible to witness the enthusiasm as the students actively sorted waste according to its category, learning valuable lessons about responsible waste disposal.

But that’s not all! We extended our reach by involving the senior branch students as well. It was heartwarming to see these older kids speak passionately and explain the concept of Saaf Mohalla Saaf Pakistan to their younger peers, emphasizing the importance of a cleaner and greener Pakistan.

We educated the students about plastic bag litter, which is the most prominent part of street litter. We taught them that how they can reduce plastic bag littering by reusing it again and again until it gets torn. After that it can either be upcycled or placed in the appropriate bin.

We introduced our students to the exciting world of upcycling. Single-use plastic bags, often considered waste, were transformed into vibrant skipping ropes. The joy on the children’s faces as they realized the potential in repurposing materials was truly the highlight of our session!

Thank you to the students, teachers, and everyone who joined us in this journey towards a Saaf Mohalla and a Saaf #Pakistan!
